WELLINGTON A are out of the Taunton Saturday League’s Rowbarton Charity Cup after losing a penalty shootout against Dunwear United Reserves following a goalless draw after 90 minutes. The tie was played on the 4G pitch at the Bridgwater & Taunton College.
Dunwear scored all five of their penalties while Wellington missed with two spot-kicks.
Dunwear created the better chances during the 90 minutes but it was a close game which could have gone either way.
“We fielded what will be one of our strongest sides of the season,” said Wellington’s manager Warren Toth who will be running the side this season with the help of Mitch Hanson.
Wellington will be back in action on Saturday, September 6, when they play away to Staplegrove Resserves while the champions Galmington begin the defence of their title with a home game against Porlock. Galmington won the division by 14 points last season.
