WELLINGTON'S talented defender Jason Quick has become a target for Toolstation League premier division rivals Bridgwater Town.

Bridgwater, who finished fourth in the table last season, have put in seven days notice of approach for Quick, one of three brothers who play for the first team.

Bridgwater are keen to join the Southern League and will have been disappointed with their position in the Toolstation table at the end of the season. They were fourth and finished 17 points adrift of winners Mousehole.

Wellington's new boss Richard Quick has dismissed rumours that all three Quicks, former players with neighbours Bishops Lydeard, were leaving the club.

Miles Quick was named manager's player for the 2022-23 season while brother Jake was top scorer with 16 league goals.

Meanwhile Wellington play their first pre-season friendly under Cherry when they visit Bovey Tracey tomorrow (Sat).

Cherry will include some 'new faces' in his squad. Bovey Tracey finished fifth in the South West Peninsular League last winter.
