WELLINGTON Bowling Club travelled to Torquay for their annual indoor tour which was organised by Steve Lovell.

More than 40 members enjoyed three days of matches against a number of local teams.

More than 100 bowlers came to Torquay to play in well organised competitive matches against one another.

On Tuesday morning, four games were played and there were the same number in the afternoon. The Wellington teams did well considering they were not used to playing on very fast rinks, but they managed to win 2 of 4 in the morning and a further two in the afternoon.

On Wednesday the Wellington teams picked up the pace and won 5 games to 3 in the course of the day.

They ran into trouble on the last day against some very strong opposition, winning just two all day. That afternoon's result was not helped because one Wellington bowler had agreed to stand in for a missing opposition player and consequently helped that team to win by 12 shots!

Despite losing a few games, everyone loved playing in the competition and enjoyed the friendly opposition.

It has become a tradition that a small monetary prize is given to the team that wins by the highest shot difference each day.
