WELLINGTON find themselves without a rugby match in Regional Two South West this weekend, as do many local sides.

Having beaten Cullompton 10-5 at home last weekend, Wellington would almost certainly have liked to have kept the momentum going.

A delighted Wellington head coach Graham Dawe said this week after the victory over Cullompton: "It was a very spirited performance. We defended very well - in fact, so did they.

"The lads showed a lot of character in winning this game after a poor run of results. It will boost confidence.

"We welcomed Cam Venn back at No8 - especially for his ball carrying. The great thing was we didn't concede many points which we have done this year. Both teams created a number of chances - but couldn't get over the line."

In a game which was very even throughout, Cullompton snapped up a try ten minutes before the end of the first half. Wellington quickly responded with Ollie Price going over for a try which Mikey Taylor converted.

Wellington, with 12 home grown players in their starting line-up, increased their lead with a Taylor penalty early in the second half.

Wellington 2nd XV also have a free weekend.
