WELLINGTON have stepped up their search for new players to strengthen their first team squad.

Assistant player-manager Jack Porter said today: "We had a chat with a couple of players last night - but it's early days yet.

"We've also been after another player for a week or so. If we do sign him he could be available this weekend.'

Wellington, whose match at Street last weekend was postponed because of the bad weather, are set to play their first game of the New Year at home to Nailsea & Tickenham in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League on Saturday (3p.m.).

Although only one side will be relegated this season, third from bottom Wellington are naturally keen to move up the table. They have been very competitive in recent weeks but results have not gone their way.
