WELLINGTON will be back in action this afternoon (Sat) - just four days after losing 2-1 at home to highflyers Bridgwater United in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League.

They play away to former Southern League outfit Street who are currently lying mid-table. Street also lost on Boxing Day - 2-1 away to Shepton Mallet.

It has been a tough season so far for Wellington's new manager Richard Cherry and his assistant Jack Porter who took over in the summer. Wellington have managed only two wins in the league and are hovering near the bottom of the table.

However, only one side will be relegated this season and Millbrook had been looking likely to go down although they pulled off a victory over Saltash United to record their first success of the present campaign. The previous week Millbrook gave Wellington a run for their money before losing 2-0.

This will be the first meeting of the season between Wellington and Street. The return at Wellington will be on Easter Monday, April 1.

Wellington Reserves have no match tomorrow or, indeed, until Saturday, January 13, when they play at home to Newton St Cyres. Wellington will be looking to complete the season's double over their opponents, having beaten their rivals 3-1 away in late September.

Wellington A, beaten only once this season, have a crucial away match against third-placed Wellington Road Dons in the first division of the Taunton Saturday League. Dons are lying third, one point behind their rivals, but have played two more matches. This game kicks off at 2p.m.

Wellington Reds, second in Division Two, are home to Alcombe Rovers who have reformed this season after a blank 2022-23 season (2p.m.).

There are no matches in the Somerset Sunday, Somerset Women's and Girls Leagues this weekend.

*Wellington have been drawn away to Southern League outfit Larkhall Athletic in the quarter-finals of the Somerset Premier Cup, the tie to be played in the week commencing February 12. Other ties: Clevedon Town v Brislington or Bishops Sutton, Taunton Town v Bridgwater United, Bath City (holders) v Weston super Mare.
