WELLINGTON Pétanque Club finished the summer season of competitions by hosting a Triples Invitational against six clubs from the Devon League.

Wellington Boys reached the final for the second year running and a long and tense final saw them come from behind to level up at 11 all. However rivals Ottery St Mary scored two in the last end to take the Webbers Estate Agents’ Shield.

The club singles title was won this year by Rodney Dewey who beat Geoff Sully in the final.

The new Mixed Doubles champions are Richard Brickles and Jo Beer and Richard also won this year’s Devon League singles title.

The Derrick Tron Melee was played across the summer and Geoff Sully was this year’s winner.
