WELLINGTON face a tough home game against title-chasing Bridgwater United in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League on Boxing Day (1p.m.).
United are making a big bid for a return to the Southern League and are currenly lying third in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League.
Wellington’s assistant player-manager Jack Porter said today: “I have been playing against them for 15 years and so I know how they play. I know their strengths and weaknesses and hopefully we can exploit this.”
Wellington, however, will be without talented midfielder Kieran Ireland who has signed for Clevedon Town while former captain Glen Wright is going to Norwich for Christmas.
Ireland broke his leg at the beginning of this season but has made a playing comeback - and was playing well.
However, Wellington will have five players back in contention who did not play at Millbrook last weekend -Jordan Hayman, Sully McKenna, Ryan Brereton, Josh Young and Rhys Williams.
Porter said: “We will have a fairly strong squad against Bridgwater. We won fairly comfortably at Millbrook last weekend although the scoreline was only 2-0.
“We hit the woodwork twice and our goalkeeper Shay Allen barely had a shot to save. He was bored. We also made some changes towards the end to give game-time to players on the bench. We could have won by four or five.”
Wellington go into the match 15th in the table, up two places following their victory over Millbrook.
