WELLINGTON went down to an agonising 31-26 defeat away to Truro after staging a 19-point second half fightback in Regional Two South West in Cornwall yesterday (Sat).

Wellington, who had lost their previous four matches, trailed 31-7 not long after the start of the second half before hitting back to score three tries in 16 minutes.

But they could not quite get over the line for a fourth second-half try as Truro hung on to gain their first victory of the season.

Truro, who had lost all seven of their games in the league before this match, led 28-7 at half time, Wellington's only points coming from a try by Liam Phillips which was converted by Alex Davey to bring the scores level early on.

Meanwhile, Wellington 2nd XV beat their Wiveliscombe counterparts 28-17 away in Counties Three Somerset South in a game switched to Plain Pond.
