WELLINGTON gained an exciting two-wicket away win over early leaders Wembdon in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League yesterday (Sat).

Star of the show was Sri Lankan Sandaken Pathirana who took 4-18 - his second four-wicket haul in eight days - as Wembdon were bowled out for 195 and then hit 53 to top score for the visitors.

The result was in doubt for much of the game with Wellington batters Ed Hirst (11 not out) and Andy Hurry (12 not out) coming together and sharing in a match-winning ninth wicket stand of 22.

Wembdon, however, hang on to top spot although Wellington are now up to third.
