EX-SERVICEMEN maintained their 100 per cent record as they swept on towards the title in Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Chris Bullock Championship with a 28-pin home win over Odds & Ends.

Rickey Baker topped the scoring for the home side with 53 while Dan Smith went one better for Odds & Ends. Scores: Ex-Servicemen 359, Odds & Ends 331.

Foresters 414, Scuppas 424: Scuppas came out on top in a high-scoring match at the White Horse, grinding out a ten-pin victory. Colin Shepherd hit an outstanding 64 for Foresters, while Nick Payne knocked 57 as Scuppas squeezed home.

Outsiders 353, United Services 339: Outsiders strengthened their grip on a top-four place with a hard-earned 14-pin win over United Services at the Conservative Club with Gerry Larcombe and Ian Taylor hitting 49s for the home side. Adam Howe (48) was Services’ top skittler.

King Pins 360, WRFC 385: The rugby boys produced a strong away display to beat the Pins by 25 pins at the Football Club with Dave Powell (58) being the standout performer for WRFC. However Shane Powell topped the alley with a splendid 61 for Pins.

All Stars 375, Home Guard IV 382: Home Guard IV picked up a valuable away win in a closely fought match, edging out All Stars by seven pins at the Victoria Arms. All Stars were led superbly by Tyler Cox’s excellent 57 while Dan Peters’ 54 proved crucial as the visitors collected a much needed three points.

Nynehead Club 377, Here 4 the Beer 397: Dan Manicini was in tremendous form for the Club, hitting a fine 63, but Here 4 the Beer moved four points clear of bottom place with Elliott Broom knocking 60.

In the Gerald Thorne Championship, Relyon produced another solid performance to stay top after beating Home Guard II by 42 pins at the Conservative Club with Rob Higgs steering them to victory by 42 pins. Steve Davey, Steve Symons and Kieran Hagan all posted 41s on a difficult night for the visitors. Relyon 354, Home Guard 312.

Bell Green 381, Queens Legs 368: Bell Green, in second place, kept up the pressure at the top with a 13-pin win over Queens Legs on the upstairs alley at the Vic. Bee Gees’ skipper Paul Rowlandson led the way with a good 55, while Queens Legs were well served by Stuart Sutton who hit 55.

Holywell Lake 355, Club Rockers 366: Holywell Lake’s hopes of winning the title suffered a major setback when they went down to an 11-pin loss to bottom side Rockers. Dave Howell knocked a solid 51 for the Lakers but Mark Bowen’s 54 proved decisive for the winners.

Fireguard A 357, Cottage Pies 376: The Pies kept in touch with the leading teams with a 19-pin win at the Football Club - thanks to a fine 53 by Jordan Perry. Fireguard’s leading skittler was Larry Heal with 51.

Reservists 353, Shooters 358: Shooters squeezed home by five pins at the Institute with Angus Cleland scoring 53 for the winners after Glen Escott had hit an impressive 55 for Reservists.

Report Centre A 363, Hot Shots 370: RCA captain Bill Whitman knocked an excellent 57, but Bob Govier’s 55 proved crucial in a seven-pin success for the Shots.

Oaks 384, OBA 350: Youngster Brenly Povey scored a splendid 59 for Oaks, while OBA’s top skittler was Denver Clarke with 50.
