WELLINGTON TOWN U18S 5 WELLS CITY U18s 1

WELLINGTON swept to the top of South Division in the Western Counties Youth Football League with this convincing home victory over Wells before a good-sized crowd at the Playing Field on Tuesday night.

There was not much to choose between the sides before Sean Conway put Wellington ahead only for City to equalise from the penalty spot.

Jon Wasey was next on target as Wellington went in at half-time 2-1 to the good.

Wellington, who never won a game last season, went on to pile on the agony for City with further goals coming from Ned Ogileie, Cez Wisnieski and James King.

“The difference between this season and last is the lads are a year older,” said assistant manager Andy Govier. “Last season we might have lost our way when they equalised - but we’re a lot wiser and know how to handle it.

“Their keeper made a couple of good saves in the second half otherwise the score would have been bigger.”

Wellington have an attractive home game next Tuesday they play at home to Yeovil Town who have yet to get their season underway (7.30).
