WELLINGTON maintained their unbeaten record in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier C ricket League with an 80-run home victory over North Perrott yesterday (Sat).
Having scored 228 all out, the only real threat to Wellington recording their fifth succcessive victory was the weather. It did rain but not enough to bring a halt to the game.
Wellington collected 20 points for their win which enabled them to stretch their lead over second-placed Wembdon, who beat Taunton, to 11 points.
Wellington lost two wickets for 24 runs but Sri Lankan Sandaken Pathirana steadied the ship with a knock of 60 which included four sixes and six fours. Skipper Aaron Campbell, batting at No 6, scored 21, Callum Hendy 24 while Jack Beal was 44 not out which included four sixes and four fours.
North Perrott lost an early wicket with only four runs scored and never seriously looked like winning the game. Jack Henderson made 43 before becoming one of Sandaken Pathirana's three victims.
Toby Stirzaka, Campbell and veteran Rob Moysey all picked up two wickets as Perrott were bowled out for 146 in 32-4 overs, having fallen well below the required run rate.
