SAINTS Southwest vs Wellington U9s: Wellington’s young footballers travelled to Huish Episcopi to play Saints in very windy conditions.

Wellington went into the game with the bare seven players, including no recognised goalkeeper so were always going to find this a test. However, the visitors started well and showed off their slick attacking football, passing the ball round at ease and causing Saints plenty of problems, coming in 2-1 up.

This was as good as the scoreline was going to get for Wellington. As expected, without any subs they tired they conceded a few goals in the second and third quarters. To their credit, they regrouped and showed plenty of character in the final stages of the game.

They finished the game scoring three and conceding six. The goal scorers were Jude Norman (2) and Harrison Thompson, who scored his 30th of the season. Huge credit goes to all the boys for showing great character throughout the game. Well done to all, especially to Fraser May, Jude Norman, Rex Beatty and Harrison Thompson for playing a stint in goal which is unfamiliar to each. Thank you to Roadchef (kit sponsor), R&M Motors (jacket sponsor) and the all the parents for all your support.
