EMERGENCY services tackled a combine harvester fire with help from a local farmer last night.
Crews from Wellington and Taunton Fire Station attended the fire which took hold in a field on the outskirts of Wellington on Tuesday (July 29) evening.

Upon arrival, at around 8pm, the combine was well alight, with the fire spreading through the field. The farmer reportedly assisted the fire crews, by ploughing a fire break into the field to prevent it from spreading.
A water carrier coming from Bridgwater was stood down due to the crews gaining control of the fire prior to their attendance.
Devon and Somerset Fire Services shared that the vehicle had been 100% damaged by the fire which is believed to have been caused “accidentally”.
No one was reportedly harmed.
