Wellington railway station housing development could see more homes addedThe Buses of Somerset (First) vehicle became trapped on a pedestrian safety railing opposite the Duke of Wellington pub, resulting in a roadblock that held up traffic for a large part of the day.
The incident prompted a response from local police, who were at the scene to manage the situation and control the flow of vehicles in the congested town centre.
A specialised tow truck was dispatched from Dorset, more than 60 miles away, in order to remove the bus which contributed to the delays.
During the lengthy delay, officers worked to redirect traffic and minimise the impact on the road network. Passengers on the affected 22A were transferred to an alternative service.
First bus engineers also attend the scene.
