THE Wellington and Williton branches of builders merchant Travis Perkins are closing their doors today (Friday).

The company says it is shutting down a number of branches nationally “in response to the unprecedented impact of Covid-019 and to prepare for the economic outlook the country is facing”.

It has told local customers: “This decision has not been taken lightly and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will look to redeploy displaced colleagues as much as possible and support those that are affected.”

The Wellington branch is on the Blackdown Trading Estate and the Williton branch, where ten people are employed, is in Station Road.
