THE Wellington Hospital League of Friends Christmas coffee morning was heralded a success with almost £1,200 raised for the community hospital.

The Wellington Hospital League of Friends raise funds to provide items of additional equipment for the Wellington Community Hospital and for the district nursing team.

The event held at Wellington Baptist Church Hall attracted a huge crowd, with many attendees staying for a chat with friends over coffee and biscuits.

Visitors were able to snap up bargains on the many stalls, from books and puzzles to cakes and preserves, spring bulbs and plants, and an interesting array of bric a brac.

Diane Grabham, on behalf of the Wellington Hospital League of Friends, said: “It’s always lovely to see those people who always support our events, no matter what the weather, but it was really good to see so many new faces this year,

“Lots of people said they had been to the recent open day at Wellington Community Hospital and how it had made them aware of how much the league had provided and what was available at the hospital.

“We took the decision to use both rooms at the hall this year and we are so glad we did because there were definitely more people. We are very grateful to the extra volunteered on the day and to those who contributed in any way.”

The League of Friends Christmas cards were especially popular.

They are still on sale from the hospital reception or from any of the league trustees.

All profit from the Christmas card sales go towards the Wellington Hospital League of Friends fund.

The Hospital League of Friends are planning their next fundraising event on Friday, March 20, at Wellington Rugby Club where Wellington Operatic Society will be presenting an evening of Songs from the Shows.
