POLLING cards have been arriving through residents’ letterboxes in the Wellington area for all those eligible to vote at the Somerset County Council elections on May 4.

Poll cards detail where individuals’ polling station is and how they can make arrangements for a postal or proxy vote.

Anyone can apply for a postal vote, whatever their reason, so long as they submit an application form to Taunton Deane and West Somerset councils’ joint election team before 5pm on Tuesday, April 18. The deadline for a proxy vote application is 5pm on Tuesday, April 25.

Postal vote packs will be sent out from Wednesday, April 19, to residents who have applied to vote by post.

Anyone who does not receive a polling card should check they are on the Electoral Register by contacting Taunton Deane and West Somerset’s elections team on 01984 635276. The deadline for registration is midnight on April 13.

Elisa Day, the councils’ electoral services manager, said: “If you haven’t yet registered to vote, there’s still time – just go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote before Thursday, April 13.

“It’s a straightforward process that only takes a few minutes to complete.”
