A DRIVER who had previously failed to appear in court over driving offences has been arrested at the scene of a road traffic accident.

A Transit van and a blue Toyota Hilux collided on Wrangcombe Road, near Wellington Hill. Police said there were no injuries as a result of the incident on Saturday, March 9.

When officers arrived at the scene they closed the road and arrested a 55-year-old man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend a hearing at Exeter Magistrates Court.

Police said it appeared the man was also due to appear in Taunton Magistrates Court on Monday, March 4.

In pictures posted to social media by Avon and Somerset Police, the two vehicles were seen to have suffered extensive damage in the collision, which took place on the outskirts of Wellington, near the road to Culmstock Beacon, a popular site for local dog walkers.
