PRIMARY schools in Wellington will start to re-open on Monday but some pupils will be offered as little as two half-days’ education a week.

Schools will phase in their re-opening with some accepting pupils back from Monday and others not until Wednesday.

The return to school affects youngsters in Reception, Year One and Year Six classes, while children who are vulnerable or whose parents are key workers will continue to attend as normal during the coronavirus lockdown.

However, parents who choose not to send their children back to school because of continuing fears over coronavirus have been told their decision will be respected and they will not be penalised.

For more information on how individual schools in the Wellington area are proposing to open see this week’s Wellington Weekly News out tomorrow (Friday, May 29).
