CHILDREN from Wellesley Park Primary School in Wellington attended the Royal Bath & West of England Society’s annual show for the Environmental Youth Award presentation.
The pupils are members of the school’s weekly Eco Club or act as eco reps for their classes, and attend regular meetings to carry out Eco initiatives at the school.
They have been working hard to help the school go ‘green’, which has included activities such as gardening and organising an Eco Day.
A wide selection of the children’s work was on display at the four-day show for members of the public to see.
The school was named Somerset County Winner for the Environmental Youth Award and in a special presentation was presented with a trophy, a framed certificate and a cheque for £250.
The judges, who visited the school twice over the course of the year, were impressed that the school had completed a large number of projects to encourage wildlife in the grounds and with its involvement with other organisations such as Wellington in Bloom, the Woodland Trust and the Eco-Schools Award Scheme.
