A nurse and poet from Tonedale, is set to publish a new collection of poetry, revealing the reality of the healthcare system.

Independent UK publisher, Dithering Chaps will be launching ‘Ghosts of Nightshifts Past’ by Nicole Durman next month.

Durman’s poetry chronicles the emotional and physical toll of working in the UK’s healthcare system, reflecting particularly on her experience working nightshifts.

She said: “Poetry allows us to process the events that feel too big, too fast, or too personal to say out loud.

“Ghosts of Nightshifts Past is my attempt to honour the patients who slip in and out of life, and the exhausted healthcare workers who are there for them at every stage.”

‘Ghosts of Nightshifts Past’ will be launched at Brendan Books, Taunton, on July 24.
