THE community hospital in Wellington is hosting an open day on Saturday, October 11, inviting members of the public to come and see how the building is being used.

Opened in 1892 under the name of Wellington District Cottage Hospital, the building was a gift to the town from local businessman, Egerton Burnett. Since then it has undergone numerous changes as health services have evolved.

Doors will be open from 10am to 3pm with guided tours starting on the hour from 10.30am.

Wellington Hospital League of Friends will be supporting the event, providing some information on the hospital’s history and inviting guests to share their memories and express their opinions on how the hospital is currently used.

Everyone is welcome to join, with tea, coffee and cakes available for attendees.
