A 43-YEAR-OLD father of two is still recovering this week after being attacked in his own front garden in Wellington.

Phil Storey, an ambulance care assistant, still has bruising to his face, thigh and toe, after he was assaulted by three teenagers in Alexandra Road, about 200 yards from the town’s main police station, when he asked them to stop being so noisy.

“There were about 20 teenagers outside my house after ten o’clock at night and they woke my 15-month-old daughter,” he said.

“All I did was to ask them to keep the noise down. Before I knew it, three of them piled into me, knocking me down and kicking and punching me.

“I had no chance. The worst I would have expected from them would have been a bit of lip. They left me on the ground and moved away with one of them saying: ‘Let’s look for another fight’.”

Because of his injuries Mr Storey was forced to take the whole of last week off from work, which cost him £300.

Police have issued the following statement: “We were called to reports of an assault in Alexandra Road in Wellington at about 10pm on August 24.

“The victim - a man in his 40s - heard a disturbance outside his house and went to investigate.

“He saw a group of teenagers and asked them not to be so noisy.

“Three of the group then assaulted him - punching and kicking him. He suffered bruising to his face, thigh and toe.

“Police enquiries into the incident are continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact us, quoting reference 5219195419.”

Mr Storey says he has three names which he has given to the police.
