A ROCKWELL Green couple have spoken for the first time of their ‘complete shock’ at the sudden death of their son while holidaying with them in Goa, India.

Darren ‘Speedy’ Windsor, who was only 44, died of natural causes while on a month’s long holiday with his dad and mum, Terry and Dawn Windsor. They have been regular visitors to Goa over the years.

Scores of his pals have paid tribute to him on Facebrook.

Terry, a roofer, said: “Darren worked for me for about 30 years – ever since he left Court Fields School. There was no hint that anything was wrong with him.

“We had always kept on to him about smoking – we said he smoked too much.

“He was a big lad – but a gentle giant who was very popular.

“He wasn’t the sporty type although he did play rugby until he was about 14.’

‘Speedy’ was a keen pool player and captained a team in Crediton where his uncle Melvyn lives. He also played for his father’s team Two Tees in the Wellington Pool League until about three years ago.

‘Speedy’ had a brother Nathan, who is 41, and two sisters Beverley, 40, and Hayley, 32.

A funeral service will be held at All Saints Church, Rockwell Green, on Wednesday, April 25, at 12.30pm which will be attended by many of his friends and teammates from his pool team in Crediton. Dress optional.
