A TRADITIONAL Boxing Day meet will be held in Wiveliscombe again this year by the Taunton Vale Harriers.

The hunt will meet in The Square at 11 am for ‘all those wishing to show their support for our hounds’.

Hunt chairman Rosie Payne said: “The Harriers are proud to continue the old Chipstable Hunt’s tradition of meeting in The Square at Wiveliscombe on Boxing Day.

“This festive meet continues to be one of the highlights of the trail hunting calendar for so many within our local community.

“The Boxing Day meet is also a great opportunity for children and families to meet our lovely Westcountry harriers.”

The Wiveliscombe event is a legacy of the former Chipstable Hunt and the 'legendary' Michael Roffe-Silvester's hounds.

Across the country other hunts will also host their traditional Boxing Day meets on the Bank Holiday Tuesday.

Recently, two cheques were presented by the Quantock Staghounds to Debbie Bertwhistle, of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance charity.

The cheques were for £1,000 raised from gate donations at the annual Quantock Show and £250 from the Quantock Fun Ride.
