A COTFORD St Luke pub employee has raised more than £2,500 by running the London Landmarks Half-Marathon in memory of her late brother.
Kirsty Goss, a team member in The Chapel, saw donations reach £2,153 plus £400 in Gift Aid, more than three times her target of £800.
The money is for St Margaret’s Hospice, which cared for her brother Ben, who died last year from bowel cancer.
Ms Goss, who was joined by Ben’s wife Sarah, said the half-marathon was ‘a challenge that means more to me than I can express’.
She said it was ‘devastating’ when Ben was diagnosed with stage four cancer earlier in the year.
But, she said: “The compassion and care we received from St Margaret’s made an unbearable time gentler, kinder, and more dignified.
“They did not just look after Ben, they looked after the whole family.
“They ensured he had the peaceful, dignified death that every person deserves, and they supported us before, during, and after his passing.
“Ben received counselling throughout his illness, and my nephews now have lifelong access to bereavement support.
“That safety net has been invaluable to us all.
“Every day, St Margaret’s stands beside people facing the hardest moments of their lives.
“Their teams provide expert medical care, emotional support, and the reassurance that nobody has to face life‑limiting illness alone.
“They help families make every day count, offering comfort, dignity, and peace when it matters most.
“If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, it will make a real and lasting difference.
“Thank you so much for helping me honour Ben’s memory and support the incredible charity that carried us through our darkest days.”
Ms Goss completed the half-marathon, which was held ahead of the annual London Marathon, in two hours and 10 minutes.
Her JustGiving page is still open for donations.
