RAIN did not stop play as villagers in Langford Budville enjoyed an afternoon jamboree on bank holiday Sunday.

The event was organised by Jon and Millie Coward to celebrate the first anniversary of the reopening of the village’s Martlett Inn.

Some of the Langford Jamboree activities had be moved indoors because of the rain.

Activities were moved because of the showers from the village field to the pub, where people enjoyed a barbecue, a hog roast, crafts, games, circus skills, and face painting, while musicians including Ollie Armitage, The Bird Dogs, and Goodnight Lois played late into the evening.

Proceeds from the jamboree were shared between Langford Budville Church of England Primary School and the village’s St Peter’s Church.

Mr and Mrs Coward, who also own the Bear Inn, Wiveliscombe, first took over the Martlett in 2020 after it closed during Covid lockdown.
