AN illustrated talk on local connections to Second World War secret agent Odette Hallowes, nee Brailly, will follow this year’s annual meeting of Wellington Local History and Museum Society.

The public talk is open to anybody to attend free of charge in Wellington Prep School Hall, South Street, on the conclusion of the annual meeting, which starts at 7.30 pm on Thursday, March 28.

The society is looking for people interested in managing its sales and publications, arranging events, keeping accounts, organising the stewards’ rota, and curating its collection of artefacts.

Amyas Crump’s talk is titled ‘Odette, A Love of the Blackdowns’, and will tell the story of Odette (1912-1995) with special reference to the time she spent in Somerset and Devon.

The renowned French Resistance heroine, who always known just as Odette, spent some time in the 1940s at Werescot, Sampford Arundel. She loved the area and its scenery.
