THE NEW Domino’s Pizza pod coming to Wellington is set to officially open on Monday, November 3.
Located at Westpark 26 business park, the store is the first of its kind to be opened in the UK.
The new pod store will be open seven days a week between the hours of 11.30am and 11pm, and will be operating both a collection and delivery services.
The site of the pizza pod is part of a wider EV charging hub which is made up of eight EV charging points, air/vacuum facilities and three jet wash bays. It is also located closely to the McDonald’s restaurant which occupies the business park.
While the pod’s footprint is over 25 per cent smaller than a standard store, Domino’s say that it is designed to look and feel the same.
The completed module weighs around 23 tonnes and was built in just six weeks.
Domino’s is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30am on Monday, November 3, where there will be 250 free pizzas and prizes available for some of the new pod’s first customers.
There will also be ‘golden tickets’ hidden around the retail park on the day, where they will return on Saturday, November 8.
Graeme Rose, franchise partner of Domino’s said: “We’re very excited to be launching Domino’s first pod store in Wellington. This new format will give those visiting Westpark and living locally the opportunity to try our delicious, piping hot pizza.
“We’re also passionate about enhancing our new community with employment opportunities, where people from Wellington can grow and develop their careers. For example, our new store manager Beth King started out as an in-store pizza maker and has worked her way up through the ranks.
“We are currently recruiting drivers ahead of the busy Christmas period.”
