NORTH Street in Wellington is set to close next month for “essential works.”

Wessex Water her said they will close the road from 8.30 am Tuesday, April 2 to Friday, April 12, for the safety of the public and their workers while they carry out “essential work on the sewage network.”

In a letter sent to local residents the water company apologised for any inconvenience the closure may cause, and said alternative routes would be clearly signposted and efforts would be made to maintain pedestrian access through the closure.

Residents living along North Street were told: “We may need access to the street to the front or side of your property. Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the essential work as quickly as possible.

“You can continue to use your sewerage services as normal unless we tell you otherwise.”

The closure will extend for 70 metres from near the junction with Burrage.
