NYNEHEAD Parish Council has announced its plans to implement an emergency plan for the area.
The council is currently seeking volunteers for Nynehead, Hornshay, Pool, and Chipley to help locals in the case of an “emergency”.
The Wellington Weekly News understands that the move is part of a county-wide effort to improve local resilience in the face of health, weather, and crime related emergencies.
A spokesperson for the council stated: “If an emergency were to occur, [the new] hub volunteers would be asked to communicate any necessary actions required of their local residents.”
The parish council has been contacted for comment.
On October 15, Somerset Council will be hosting the ‘Somerset Prepared Community Resilience Day 2025’ when council and community group representatives will attend an emergency planning-focussed event.
