A PLANNING application has been submitted for the development of two bungalows near the Wellington Basins, despite council opposition.

The proposed site, owned by Jim Hill, is located north of Corams Lane, and to the West of existing domestic properties in Riverside and Springfield Road.

On Monday, July 7, Wellington Town Council heard from Collier Planning associate, Simon Collier that Mr Hill was looking to build two homes and an access road on the land.

Councillors heard that the erection of the new homes would be a “modest” development but were quick to share that it “would not be welcomed”.

A number of residents who live in Riverside spoke at the council meeting and told councillors that they were opposed to any housing scheme.

The public online consultation period ends on August 29, and the application be viewed online using reference number 43/25/0062.
