POLICE are making inquiries following the death of a Wellington woman over the weekend.

The woman, whom the Wellington Weekly has chosen not to name, died on Saturday, October 7.

She was taken from an address at Aspin Road to Musgrove Park Hospital on Monday, September 25, in what police described as a 'serious condition'.

On Friday, September 29, the woman remained in an intensive care unit, with her family beside her, before she sadly died the following day.

Police officers were called to the Aspin Road residence on the same Monday (September 25), responding to the 'suggestion of an earlier domestic incident'.

A man in his 40s was arrested on Thursday, September 28, before being questioned under caution by officers.

He was later released on conditional bail.

Avon and Somerset Police said the woman's death was currently being treated as a 'medical incident' and that a post-mortem examination would be held to establish the precise cause of death.

Police confirmed that their inquiries remained ongoing.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset said: "Police continue to make inquiries on behalf of the coroner after the death of a woman following a medical emergency at an address in Aspin Road, Wellington.

“The woman was admitted to hospital on Monday, September 25, and sadly passed away on Saturday, October 7.
