A WOMAN is in a serious condition in hospital and a man has been arrested after an incident in her home on the Cades housing estate in Wellington.
Details of the incident, which happened on Monday (September 25), have only just been released by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
The woman was admitted to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, on Monday morning following what was described as ‘a medical emergency’.
Police were then called to the property in Aspin Road on Monday evening after a ‘suggestion that there had been an earlier domestic incident’.
The woman, who has not been named, remained in the hospital’s intensive care unit on Friday (September 29) and her family were with her.
A police spokesperson said a man in his 40s was arrested on Thursday (September 28) and was due to be questioned under caution.
Police were on Friday continuing to make inquiries into what happened.
The spokesperson said: “Officers are keeping an open mind, but believe it necessary to clarify the circumstances in view of the seriousness of the woman’s condition.”
