PEOPLE are being encouraged to get creative for a week of art and activities in Wellington.
The Pop-Up Shop on Fore Street, is set to become a studio space to host a number of artistic events.
Local artists and illustrators Alex Williams and Caroline Merrett are coming together, alongside a number of other local artists, to show their work under the banner of Hello! Studio from August 25 until 29.
The schedule will feature daily art workshops for both adults and children, with a ‘Sketchbook Social’ on the opening evening, inviting people to enjoy some relaxed drawing from life, and a late gallery opening on Friday, August 29 for drinks and nibbles.

The space will include a curated selection of artworks, prints and cards for sale by both Alex and Caroline and local artists Sally Light (Bodkin Beak), Kitty Tredwin, Caitlin Pengelly, Katie Sims, Lauren Doble, Lisa Broom and Vanessa Snowdon-Carr.
Visitors throughout the week will also be invited to create their own mini postcard artworks to hang on the community wall within the gallery.
Alex is a printmaker, and Caroline specialises in delicate watercolour and gouache paintings. Both artists have a background in teaching, and several small children between them and as such are keen to offer a wide range of workshops to inspire both young people and adults to explore their creativity, ranging from printmaking and collage to experimental watercolour techniques.
Alex said: “We really wanted to create an exciting and inclusive event that welcomes and inspired people from all walks of life.
“Nina at the Talent Gallery has been incredibly supportive and we want to complement her beautiful gallery with something a little different. We hope that visitors will stop by both galleries during the week we are open!”
Tickets for workshops can be booked via Alex’s website www.alexwilliamsillustration.co.uk
