An enterprising teenager is appealing for summer work as he saves for his future training to be a paramedic - and is already getting offers.

Toby Sealy is 16 and is waiting for the results of his GCSEs before continuing his studies at Taunton’s USC college.

He published a ‘Looking for Work’ poster and shared it to the Wellington Somerset Community Group earlier this week.

And already he’s had requests for gardening jobs and pet care work.

“I really want to be a paramedic in the future. It’s a passion, and it’s what interests me. Obviously it will rely on qualifications, but I’ll be studying health at UCS,” Toby said.

“You may know it is really hard to get work as a young person at the moment, but I am hard-working and like to be busy, so I don't want to give up and have decided to offer my services,” he wrote on Facebook.

“I can turn my hand to a lot of things. I have done lots of DIY, animal care, gardening, and house chores.”

Toby has already been working in a charity shop as a volunteer, and has obtained qualifications in first aid and food hygiene this summer. He also has a BTEC in hospitality.

“I’m a dedicated, hardworking and committed young person who wants to keep busy and save towards my future.”

Anyone with offers of work can email Toby at [email protected]. He is happy to cover Wellington and surrounding villages - as he says he has a bicycle and is also happy to walk long distances.

He is available all summer, and from September would still like to take on offers of work at weekends, in the evening, and during future school holidays.

Toby even offers to visit, chat and play games, particularly for older people. “I miss doing this for my Granny,” he says.
