A SPEEDING Cotford St Luke woman has had her driver’s licence endorsed with three penalty points after being caught driving at 48 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Emma Hawkes, aged 40, of Burge Crescent, appeared in Taunton Deane Magistrates Court before District Judge Angela Brereton on Thursday, May 21.

Judge Brereton heard a police speed trap had caught Hawkes exceeding the 40 mph limit in her black Kia Sportage diesel car on the Toneway, in Taunton, on Thursday, August 28, of last year.

Hawkes, who pleaded guilty, was also fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £90 and a victim fund surcharge of £48.

She was allowed to pay the total sum of £258 in instalments of £35 starting from next month.
