THREE gardens in the Wellington area are to open to the public as part of the National Gardens Scheme 2025.
The scheme grants visitors access to over 3,500 private gardens in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands every year.
Since its inception, the National Gardens Scheme has donated over £74-million to nursing and health charities.
This year, gardens in Milverton, Wrangway, and Hemyock will be open to the public, some by arrangement and others with fixed openings.
In Hemyock, Regency House features a five-acre plantsman’s garden featuring unusual trees and shrubs. Visitors are invited to bring their own picnic to enjoy on the grounds before or after taking a gander through the walled vegetable and fruit garden, along the sweeping lawns or around the lake and ponds.

The private garden will host open days on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, from 2pm until 5pm. The site is otherwise open by arrangement.
Kingsland, on North Street, Milverton, is a plantsman’s walled village garden of approximately one-acre in size. The site was gutted in 2021 and rebuilt and replanted from scratch. Large trees brought in from Holland give the site immediate structure. It has then been laid out in three sections with a range of unusual plants, herbaceous borders, a sunken gravel garden and a mound with grasses and spring bulbs.
The Milverton garden can only be visited by arrangement until September 28.

Closer to Wellington, Hangeridge Farmhouse garden in Wrangway is nestled between the Blackdown and Quantock hills. The one-acre plantsman’s garden is surrounded by rural countryside and offers a plethora of different plants to suit all tastes, including island beds with unusual perennials, shrubs, old roses and specimen trees.
The Hangeridge Farmhouse can only be visited by arrangement until the end of the month.
