ONE of the oldest bus shelters in Wellington was being replaced this week as the town council starts an annual programme of renewing or improving all of those it now owns.
The first to be addressed is in Rockwell Green, in front of bungalows in Meadowside at the foot of Hilly Head.
A council spokesperson said: “This is one of the oldest shelters in town and is well overdue for a replacement.
“We took on the management of bus shelters from Somerset Council as part of the devolution deal in 2025 and are looking forward to implementing this project.”
Contractors were due on site in Rockwell Green on Wednesday (February 4) between 8.30 am and 3 pm to remove the existing shelter and install a replacement.
