NEW Wellington greengrocer Paul Shipp has been busy getting his feet under the counter at Mary Jenkins in High Street.

He and his wife Kim have been working 12-hour days as they get to grips with the business.

They have taken over the store after Geoff Jenkins retired after 40 years in the business.

They plan to continue what Geoff and his wife Mary were doing with the store but will install new fixtures and fittings to increase the product range.

They will add more farm-shop style items and introduce electronic point of sale tills. They may also at some point set up a website.

Paul said: “We were living in Winchester and had been looking to move to the South-West for two years to get out of the rat race. We want to work together and enjoy life.”

Paul was previously a team manager with online grocery retailer Ocado in Andover for two-and-a-half years, and has also been involved in the retail side of the business.
