TWO fire crews from Wellington were mobilised to help firefighters from other stations tackle a tractor which was ablaze at the foot of the Blackdown Hills on Thursday (July 9).

They joined two crews from Taunton and a water carrier sent from Bridgwater to attend the incident, which happened near Corfe shortly before 11 am

The first firefighters on scene reported a tractor and trailer carrying bales of hay were well alight.

They used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to prevent the fire escalating while two appliances from Wellington were brought in with more equipment and personnel.

In total, the fire crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a 45 mm jet, a compressed air foam system jet, and drag forks to extinguish the blaze.
