The chairman, Isabel Ward, welcomed members at the end of July to the barn at Swains Lane nature reserve for their first meeting since the annual meeting in March.

Preparation and planting at Lancer Court with suggestions regarding plants and shrubs: Lewis Lane had put up the sign in Lancer Court memorial garden and the beds are being prepared for autumn, which is why they look bare at the moment.

Swains Lane nature reserve has had a few issues over the past few months: trees along the bank and the boardwalk is past its sell by date, and make the entrance more amenable. The nut tree now has nuts on it.

Sue Adams reported that The Basins was continuing to be managed well but the boardwalk there needs to be replaced.

Transition Town meetings were held on Zoom regarding its plans for wild flowers and safeguarding wildlife. The tree project was on hold at the moment.

The Peace Garden continues to look very good but vandalism has been a major worry involving the police and the Quakers.

Lorraine said the pre-school competitions would be cancelled this year but would be starting again next year.

The National Trust and Monument appeal would meet to discuss the future.

An open garden would be held at 43 Mantle Street next year.
