A WELLINGTON man is looking for fellow runners to join him on his fundraising effort to complete four marathons in 24 hours.
James Webber is taking on the challenge to raise funds for Cancer Research UK after his Mother’s diagnosis of liver cancer, just four years after beating breast cancer.
The recent diagnosis has torn the family’s world apart once again, hs says, but spurred James to action.
Whilst his Mother is currently in hospital receiving chemotherapy, James is setting out on the biggest venture of his life doing the one thing he loves doing best, running.
He plans to run four marathons between Wellington and Taunton on a single day in August. James said: “The 168km will be split into a multi-loop route starting in Wellington, running to Taunton, around Taunton and back to Wellington where the loop will start again.

“The 24-hour challenge will be physically demanding for even the most established of runners but a challenge that I’m hoping can raise a good amount of money for cancer research.”
James is hoping that people join him on his marathon effort to keep him company. He said: “With the amazing work the doctors have done, thanks to cancer research, my mum was able to make it through the original breast cancer and and we were blessed to have a lot more time with our mum around.
“I would love for anyone to join the run at any point and for any amount of distance. I will need as much support as I can especially running through the night.”
The challenge is set to begin at 10am on Saturday, August 1, in Wellington and completed by 10am the following day.
James’ Gofundme page has already reached £505 of his £3,000 target. Donations can be made to: www.gofundme.com/f/raise-money-for-cancer-research-uyqy7
