FLU and Covid vaccination clinics for eligible patients of Wellington Medical Centre this year will be held on October 3, 10, and 17, and November 7, members of the practice’s patient participation group (PPG) were told.

The PPG was updated on the running of the centre at its last meeting, which was attended by Dr Emily Eve and practice manager Janet Hewlett.

The group, which aims to keep patients and the practice connected, had an opportunity to discuss feedback and look at ways of working together for the benefit of patients.

It was agreed that money from fund-raising by the patient participation group would be used to purchase two new trolleys for the nursing team.

A spokesperson said: “Thank you to everybody who has supported our fund-raising activities, your generosity really does make a difference.”

Patients who had been invited and had an appointment for one of the flu or Covid vaccinations were asked to arrive at their allocated time, and it was pointed out that more appointments were still being given out.

The spokesperson said: “Patients cannot be seen earlier than their appointment time, or without an appointment.

“Arriving at the correct time will help the clinics run smoothly, reduce waiting times, and avoid congestion and long queues in the car park.

“Thank you for helping the practice team make these busy vaccination clinics run as smoothly as possible.”

The PPG’s annual meeting was held in July and its new committee officers appointed for this year were chairman Veronica Tatnall, vice-chairman Mike Russell, treasurer Ann Cowling, social and fund-raising Janet Govier, press and PR Debbie Summers.
