A CYCLING charity which was founded in Wellington is set to come to the Fore Street Pop-Up Shop.
On Your Bike, a Somerset-based cycling charity, will be offering free servicing all week at the town council’s Pop-Up Shop, from Monday, May 12, until Saturday, May 17.
There will also be reconditioned and new bikes, parts, and accessories for sale.
Duncan Bawler, On Your Bike supervisor for the Bridgwater store, said: “We look forward to coming back to Wellington where it all began back in 2010 and meeting the Wellington community and spreading the word about On Your Bike, the work we do and the people we do it with, and what makes us more than just a Bike Shop.
“Throughout the week we will be offering free bike servicing as well as a drop off point for any used/unwanted bicycles, a range of refurbished and new bicycles, new parts and accessories for sale.
“Pop in and say hi.”
Established in Wellington in 2010, On Your Bike works to train and support those who have suffered social exclusion, have physical disabilities and mental health problems, as well as ex-service personnel, ex-offenders, homeless and long-term unemployed.
The charity work with these individuals to refurbish unwanted bicycles – donated or rescued from landfill – which are then sold in shops.
They have recycled and serviced thousands of bikes, supplying affordable bikes to the communities it serves in Taunton and Bridgwater.
As well as providing wraparound support, the bike shop also provides beneficiaries with new skills, confidence, self-worth, and a desire to be a proactive part of the community through working in fully equipped workshops with support and supervision from its trained mechanics to refurbish unwanted bicycles.
On Your Bike will be at the Fore Street Pop-Up Shop from 8.30am-5pm from Monday to Friday, and 9am until 3pm on Saturday. No bookings are required for services.
