A CROWDFUNDING appeal is being launched to meet the cost of a stairlift for Wiveliscombe Town Hall, which is being restored by a charitable trust.

Trustees recently applied for planning permission to fit a water supply, accessible toilet, and bar, and next they want to raise nearly £5,000 for a stairlift to make the hall more accessible.

A spokesperson said: “There is a long flight of 24 steps to be climbed.

“Obviously, not everybody is able to undertake that journey, so early next year we are planning to install a stairlift.

“We are planning a crowdfunder and will need to raise about £200 for each of the steps, which we hope the wonderful people of Wiveliscombe and surrounding area will help us secure.”
