ROCKWELL Green Shortmat Bowls Club made the short trip to Trull for a four-mat ten-ends friendly - and came away with a 36-25 success.
As is usual with friendly matches, a warm welcome was extended by the Trull players. With only six players Green were in for a long afternoon .
Getting things underway (Green names first) Cass, Reg & Bill lined up against Val, Edna & Mike. Things were even after 6 ends but a full house on end 7 put the Green in a strong position and the Trull trio could not find a way back. The Green came out on top 13-7.
Next up were Graham, Mick B & Mike R matched with Lauraine, Evan & Malcolm. This proved to be a one sided game with Trull unable to get on the score sheet until the 7th end, giving the Green trio a runaway 11-3 victory. (Game played over 8 ends )
The break was taken with both sides saying how hard it is to recruit new members. The half time scores were, the Green 24, Trull 10.
The restart saw Cass, Reg & Bill facing stronger opposition in Steve, Carol & Heather with the Trull trio going into a 7-2 lead after 4 ends. The Green did try to fight back but to no avail going down 9-5. (This game played over 8 ends).
Last to play were Graham, Mick B, & Mike R against Rita, Steve C & David K which proved to be the tightest game of the afternoon with the teams level after 8 ends. Trull gained 1 shot on end 9 and the Green got 2 shots on the last to take the game 7-6.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon with both sets of players enjoying this form of exercise. While scores do not matter, Rcokwell will have enjoyed their success.
Note. A full house consists of all a team's woods scoring.
