ROCKWELL Green Shortmat Bowls Club have staged the semi and final of their pairs competition.

The first semi final was between Claire Greenaway & Mike Russell against Robert (Bob) Picken & Reg Deem (standing in for John Stevens who was sick). After 9 ends the scores were level at 8 all and with one bowl to play Mike & Claire were holding shot but Bob played a cracking shot to take the end and the match by 9--8.

The second semi between John Young & Syd Howell against Bill Kingdom & Graham Hill proved to be a one sided affair with John & Syd coming away with a 16--4 victory.

After a short break the final took place with John & Syd against Robert & Reg. The opening exchanges were shared but John & Syd started to pick up shots to lead by 10--6 with one end to play. John & Syd did enough to stay ahead and win 11-6.
